stydio feb 15 10" x 14" part 2
I lost a lot of color while transferring to the internet.... the yellow had more hue, as did the orange. I suppose the photographs could have been better to start with.

Gsaxena, Still-life with spice jar, karua, & hanky from Nepal, Feb 10, 10"x 14" |
I was looking at Morandi's still-life and simplified mine. The colors were so jarring before. I need to learn about warm and cool colors for shadows etc. Here is a still-life by Morandi (1890-1964)--an Italian painter.

I might redo the background on mine. Make it flatter and less wispy... perhaps.
This was my pattern painting today:

It is fun having two completely different methods to work on.

studio feb 4 &7 remaining paint
I find the leftover fragments after a drawing, painting, or collage fascinating. After I made that collage still life last week, the next day I had to clean up the little left over fragments. The leftover shapes were so interesting and tiny. As I collected them they formed a collage of their own.
The same goes for left over paint on the palette. Acrylics tends to dry out, unlike oil paints which one can preserve for a day at least. So as it nears 5 pm and I have to clean up a bit, i use the remaining paint on left over paper.
I am realizing I prefer unfinished drawings and paintings to over working them. Of course, I don't actually know what 'unfinished', 'overworking', or 'finished' means... I am doing painting exercises with still life nowadays, because still life is all around me. This particular one seems over composed and crafted...
